Our unique live and virtual workshops meld the expertise of trained Montessorians and special education professionals in order to provide you with a variety of tools for growing your parenting practice.
Montessori basics for Parents
Whether or not your child attends a Montessori school, gaining a basic understanding of Montessori philosophy and pedagogy will empower you as a parent. In this interactive, inspiring workshop, we will explore themes of independence, freedom and responsibility, observation, concentration, sensorial exploration, and the role of the adult, all through the lens of Montessori philosophy. Together we will develop potential Montessori-aligned solutions to many common difficulties, from getting out the door in the morning to bedtime battles. We will also discuss Montessori strategies to help families thrive during the Coronavirus situation.
Creating a Montessori home
Montessori philosophy leans heavily on the concept of preparing a child’s physical environment so that they can thrive. Your home is your child’s primary environment to learn and grow, and the time we spend preparing our space brings innumerable benefits. In this workshop, we will discuss basic Montessori principles and ways to apply them in your home. Everything from where your child hangs their coat to how you prep for dinner can benefit from a Montessori spin! You will learn simple, concrete steps you can implement immediately to create a more peaceful home while supporting your child’s optimal development.
Supporting Your Child’s language development
As parents, we understand our children. We know what they want when they point to an apple, but we may also worry if someone else doesn’t understand our child. While each child develops at their own pace, knowing more about typical language development milestones and how to facilitate language development in your home will give you the confidence to support your child. This workshop is a collaboration between experts in both Montessori pedagogy and speech-language pathology and will help you learn to create and take advantage of everyday opportunities to improve your child’s communication skills. We will also share Montessori-friendly tips and tricks to use if you think your child may be demonstrating speech or language challenges.
montessori on the move
We can control so much about our environment and our routines at home, but what is a parent to do when we find ourselves doing the world’s toughest job outside our comfort zone? Come explore strategies for making everything from grocery store trips to international travel more Montessori-inspired and thus more peaceful, orderly, and enriching. We will discuss developmentally-appropriate ways to make any outing with children of all ages more pleasant and satisfying for every member of the family.
